Christmas Magic is a 0.5 mile long walking trail (accessible to anyone) that meanders through 600,000 Christmas lights, holiday scenes and five enclosed heated pavilions. The spirit of the Holiday is displayed by using animation,   disFamily Photoplays, Santa Claus, food from Brown's Orchards at the Friends Food Stand & Brickers, G-gauge train display, and a second train display. The trail sits among a mature oak forest nestled on a quiet mountaintop.

In 2018, 600,000 LED lights will greet Park visitors. We use C7,C9 and mini LED lights to guide the way through the park.

Christmas Magic was first opened 1984, the  product of the "energy crunch", when fewer homes were decorating. During this time there was still a desire to see Christmas lights locally. The first year a small budget allowed for 10,000 lights and props, most produced by the Parks Department. Today, the props are produced commercially and “in-house" as well as purchased by sponsors. This is the largest program presented by the York County Department of Parks and Recreation each year.

2018 Toys for Tots:

For the 9th year, the York County Parks is partnering with Toys for Tots. Anyone bringing a new toy still in the box or container and donating it to the Toys for Tots will receive a coupon for a free food item at the Park's Food Stand located in White Oak Pavillion.  Look for the Toys of Tots folks at the Ranger shack near the parking area. DATES: November 23rd and 24th.

2018 Pet Night:

Wednesday, November 28th, during regular show hours bring your pet to Christmas Magic to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Holiday season. Also, have your pet's picture taken with Santa Claus for $7.00. Members of the Friends of Canine Meadows will be  conducting this fundraiser.  Regular admissions apply.  This is the only night that non-essential animals are allowed at the event.  If the event is closed November 28th due to inclement weather, Pet Night will be rescheduled for November 29th.

 Volunteer Opportunities:

We are always looking for volunteers for setup, show operation, and tear down. Volunteers work with both the interior and exterior lights and displays. They also assist in providing Santa Claus and helping to serve refreshments at the Parks Friends Food stand. If interested in signing up for the food stand or becoming a volunteer, call the York County Parks at (717) 840-7440 or email to . Individuals or groups are welcome.

Looking for a way to celebrate the Holidays with your company, civic organization, scout troop or civic organization? Call the parks office at  (717) 840-7440 or email at  for more details.
