ANNOUNCEMENT: Online Support Groups Beginning Friday, April 3, 2020

We have all felt the anxiety, stress and isolation associated with COVID-19. NAMI York Adams Counties PA has been working hard over the past few weeks to convert our person to person Connection and Family Support Groups to an online format. Our hope is that you, our friends who are in need of a support group are able to connect with us an use this time together to aide in your recovery process.

Our first Connection Support Group will be taking place on Friday, April 3 at 11 am. If you would like to register for this support group please email our Director of Programs, Danielle Dennis at: danielle.dennis@namiyorkadams.org. This Connection Group will have the capability of having 5 participants for this 1st session and is on a first come first serve basis.

We are offering smaller group sessions so that everyone has an opportunity to feel connected and is able to share their thoughts in the new format. We will be adding more online groups in the coming days and weeks.

HealthChoices Management Unit Announcement 3-20-2020

The York/Adams HealthChoices Management Unit (HCMU) was created in 2001 as one of the Human Services departments which oversees the drug and alcohol and mental health services funded through the Medicaid HealthChoices Program.

The HealthChoices Program is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s mandatory Medicaid managed care program that is administered by the Department of Human Services. While the Department of Human Services contracts directly with managed care organizations for the delivery of the physical health components of the program, the Department allowed many Counties to contract directly with them for the purpose of delivering the behavioral health services provided under the program.

While the York/Adams HealthChoices department participates in quality assurance activities, oversees the fiscal reporting requirements, identifies gaps in services, works on assisting individuals with special needs and plans for the use of reinvestment dollars, many of the day to day activities that meet members' needs are sub-contracted to a managed care organization. York and Adams Counties have contracted with Community Care Behavioral Health Organization to provide care management, network management, member services and claims management as well as other support services.
