Diabetes Self-Management Program Workshops Offered

The York County Area Agency on Aging will host  free self-management workshops to learn about the Diabetes Self-Management Program.

York County residents who are 60 years of age or older living with type 2 diabetes, or a caregiver, age 60 and older of somone with type 2 diabetes can participate. 

This interactive program is conducted over 6 workshops, once a week for 2 ½ hours The workshops will be taught by certified instructors through the Area Agency on Aging.   Developed by the Stanford University Patient Education Research Centers, this health promotion program provides the tools necessary to help manage diabetes, deal with difficult emotions associated with diabetes and break the symptom cycle that comes with the disease.

A companion book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, 4th Edition, and an audio relaxation tape will be provided for all participants.
