Falls Free Coalition of York County Announces New Classes

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities.  Free classes are being offered for people to learn how to manage falls and increase their activity levels.  The free classes are part of an award-winning series called "A Matter of Balance."

A Matter of Balance is meant for people who have concerns about falling, have fallen in the past, have restricted their activities because of falling concerns or are interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength. This program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls.

Participants will learn to:

• View falls as controllable
• Set goals for increasing activity
• Make changes to reduce fall risks at home
• Exercise to increase strength and balance

Why attend?  Previous participants report:
• 97% are more comfortable talking about their fear of falling
• 97% feel comfortable increasing activity
• 99% plan to continue exercising
• 98% would recommend A Matter of Balance to others.
