K9 Dargo

K-9 Dargo is a pure bred German Shepherd born November 13, 2011 in Czechoslovakia. Dargo’s full name is Dargo Bett Silver and carries the rank of Captain in the Sheriff’s Office.

Lieutenant David Godfrey is his handler.

Think Loud LLC, comprised of Bill Hynes the members of the band Live, donated the funds for Capt. Dargo. 

     Capt. Dargo is trained in explosive detection, tracking, building searches, area searches,
           article searches, and other detection abilities.

     Capt. Dargo is certified through the National Association of Professional Canine Handlers,
           American Police Canine Association, and North American Police Work Dog Association

     Capt. Dargo provides security to all county government buildings as well as support and
           assistance to all law enforcement agencies throughout the county.


K9 Hawk


K-9 Hawk is a pure bred German Shepherd born August 28, 2014 in Czechoslovakia and carries the rank of Sergeant in the Sheriff’s Office.

Corporal Corey Strine is his handler.

The purchase of Sergeant Hawk and the cost of his training were made possible by a generous contribution from the Hawk Gunning Club which is located in York, Pennsylvania. Sheriff Richard Keuerleber would like to extend his appreciation and gratitude to all of the club members, the board of directors: Daryl Ryan, Jeff Dennis, Mel Ryan, Lee Miller, Ron Shue, Dan Swiger, Monett Bradley, and the club manager Michael Dowling Sr.

Sgt. Hawk is be trained in explosive detection, tracking, building searches, area searches, article searches, and other detection abilities.


K9 Tommi


K-9 Tommi is a pure bred German Shepherd born June 10, 2015 in Czechoslovakia.

K9 Tommi and the his training was made possible by the South Central Task Force.

 K9 Tommi is trainined in explosive detection, tracking, article searches, and other detection abilities.


Retired K9 Lou



K-9 Lou is a pure bred bloodhound and carries the rank of Lieutenant with the Sheriff’s Office.
Sergeant Samuel Shipley was his handler while he was on active duty.

The Jimmy Ryce Center For Victims of Predatory Abduction in Vero Beach Florida donated Lou to the Missing Child Task Force and the Sheriffs Office in March of 2008. This foundation is named for Jimmy Ryce who was a 9 year old boy abducted and murdered on September 11, 1995. His parents Don and Claudine Ryce began the foundation and continue to donate bloodhounds to deserving agencies.

Lt. Lou retired October 19, 2017 and is enjoying his retirement living with Sgt. Shipley and his family.

The new K9 Unit Coloring Book is available online to print out if you are not able to stop in at the Sheriff's Office or see us at an appearance.
