Our process has changed due to COVID. We will be using “limited contact” procedures and preventative measures to minimize the risk to our taxpayers and volunteers.

When you call for an appointment, we will suggest a place for you to pick up an Intake/Interview Booklet prior to your appointment. We ask that you complete the first four (4) pages of Intake/Interview information along with signing the three (3) Consent Forms at the end prior to your appointment to reduce the time you are with us in-person. You can also download and complete the documents from here.

How AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Can Help You Today

COVID NOTICE

When you arrive for your appointment, a Tax-Aide volunteer will look at your government issued photo ID and Social Security information, review all your documents – including your 2020 tax return that you brought with you (and your 2019 tax return you brought with you if you had wages or self-employment income) - and conduct an intake interview with you. Then you will be asked to sit in a separate part of the room or in a different room while we prepare your return.

When your return is finished, one of our Counselors will review the completed return with you. You will have an opportunity to ask questions. After approving the return, you will be asked to sign an IRS Form 8879. Your signature on the Form 8879 (1) authorizes us to e-file your return on your behalf and (2) acknowledges that you understand you are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the return. You will receive the original Form 8879 with your signature and a copy of your tax return prior to leaving the site. We will provide you with any items that you need to mail and instructions for doing so. If it is a joint tax return, both taxpayers should be there to sign.
