Annual Licenses can be applied for in three ways; in person, by mail, or by applying online.

To apply in person, you can do so by coming to the office, or by going to one of the local agents throughout the County that also sells the licenses.  To view the listing of dog agents, click here.

To apply by mail, you will need to print the annual dog license application.  If you don’t have a computer access and/or a printer, call the office and we’ll be happy to mail one to you.  You can mail the application with a check or money order to the Treasurer’s Office. Checks can be made payable to “York County Treasurer”.

To apply online (for both annual and lifetime licenses), click here.  There will be an additional fee charged by our credit card processor.

For instructions on how to apply for a lifetime license, or to just see how the overall process works, please refer to the lifetime licenses page.

Dog License Transfers:

Dog Licenses can be transferred between counties, and to new dog owners.  The cost to transfer a license is $1.00 for each dog license being transferred.   When transferring to another County, a fee of $1.00 will be charged by the new County Treasurer to issue a dog license tag in the new County.  Two separate payments should be sent, one payable to the current County Treasurer and one payable to the new County Treasurer to complete the transfer request.   An application to transfer shall be submitted with a bill of sale or an affidavit from the previous owner that ownership of the dog is to be transferred to the new owner.  Current York County license holders can transfer a license by mailing the completed application form along with the fee to the York County Treasurer’s Office located at 28 E. Market Street, Room 126, York, PA 17401.
