Area Agency on Aging Seeks Volunteers

The York County Area Agency on Aging has a dedicated and loyal group of volunteers serving older adults and the community. However, we still have many unmet needs and are seeking additional volunteers for each of the following programs:

  • APPRISE Insurance Counseling: Counselors assist Medicare beneficiaries in understanding their benefits, enrolling in Medicare plans and assisting with Medicare coverage issues.
  • Peer Educators: Participants lead small groups of older adults in healthy living programs. Volunteers are trained to use prepared materials. A background in the medical/health field is not needed.
  • Financial Counseling: Volunteers offer skills to help an older adult balance their checkbooks, pay bills in a timely manner and assist with other financial needs.

Individuals interested in volunteering are invited to stop by Brown’s Orchards & Farm Market’s Café, 8892 Susquehanna Trail South in Springfield Township, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 or from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13.
