Reptile Week Returns To Nixon Park

Reptiles will invade the Nature Center at Richard M. Nixon County Park this summer.

Beginning Saturday, July 2 through Sunday, July 10, the York County Department of Parks and Recreation at Nixon Park Nature Center will offer many reptile specimens, exhibits and interactive stations centered around a reptile theme.

Admission is $2 per person for the entire event. Children ages 5 and younger are free. Admission is free for Park members with their membership card.Reptile Week

Explore the Nature Center with your passport collecting stamps from each continent. Make reptiles crafts available each weekday. There are a variety of speakers and programs scheduled on the weekends, as listed below. All programs are included in the admission price. Visitor pets are not permitted in Nixon County Park.

Meet Live Reptiles with Jesse Rothacker
10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 and July 9. Program is free, no registration required.

Gone Herping! Nature Trek
1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 3 and Sunday, July 10

Snake Dissection
2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 3 and Sunday, July 10. Hosted by Dr. Schmidt of Patton’s Veterinary Clinic.

The Nature center is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and noon until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday during Reptile Week. The Nature Center will be open on July 4th from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
