Top 911 Employees Recognized

York County 911 Dispatcher Samuel Myers today was named 2015 Telecommunicator of the Year.

Myers, who started with 911 in January 2014, was recognized for his work ethic, knowledge, positive outlook and ability to make colleagues laugh even when times are difficult.

He was one of three Emergency Services employees to earn awards during an annual ceremony held for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Winners of the 2015 Telecommunicator Award Week
The goal of the week is to recognize the role that dispatchers play in public safety.

The York County 911 Center in 2015 received 405,113 calls for service. There were more than 20.9 million communications using the center’s digital radio system. Nearly 171,000 pages were sent to emergency responders to notify them of incidents throughout the County.

“The employees recognized today exemplify the commitment and dedication of our Emergency Services staff,” said Commissioner Chris Reilly. “We’re proud to have such an incredible group of individuals serving the county and community.”

Also recognized during the ceremony:

  • Mobile Data Computer (MDC) Administrator Jonathan Grim was named Supervisor of the Year. Grim is a 6-year employee who is responsible for managing the deployment and support of in-vehicle computers used by law enforcement. The computers are crucial to the work and safety of law enforcement by providing real-time access to critical information, including local, state and federal databases.
  • Office of Emergency Management Administrative Assistant Wei Leaman was named Administrative Support Person of the Year. Leaman, a 14-year employee, was described in her nomination as the “glue that holds the department together.” Her ability to leverage technology and her familiarity with the role of each team member makes her an irreplaceable part of the organization.

The winners, who were chosen by their peers, received recognition from the York County Commissioners and a selection of gifts donated by local companies.
