National Recovery Month Fair Coming To York

All ages are welcome at the upcoming National Recovery Month Fair, which will feature a scavenger hunt, face-painting and a variety of giveaways.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 3 at Central Market York, 34 W. Philadelphia St. in York. The family-friendly event is free.

The fair will help kick-off National Recovery Month, which is celebrated each September. The goal is to increase awareness of drug and alcohol abuse and celebrate the success of those in recovery.

The fair will be punctuated at 12:15 p.m. by a National Recovery Month proclamation from the York County Commissioners and York City Mayor C. Kim Bracey. As part of that ceremony, two individuals will discuss their personal recovery stories.

Attendees are encouraged to wear the purple and gold colors of Recovery Month and be eligible for a door prize.

The York/Adams Drug & Alcohol Commission and local treatment and recovery organizations will be on site to provide information about available treatment and support.

The fair is sponsored by the The Yorktowne Hotel, Central Market , White Deer Run, Brown’s Orchard & Farm Market, True Value Plus - Shrewsbury, Giant, Integrative Massage Therapy, Dover Area Community Library, Little Sister’s Kitchen Confections, Bair’s Fried Chicken, Mezzogiorno, Kramer at Market, TK’s Nut & Candy Shoppe, RASE and J.R.’s Fresh Cut Fries
