Two County-Owned Bridges In York City To Close Temporarily

The York County Board of Commissioners today announced the short-term closure of the two County-owned bridges in York City.

The bridge that carries traffic on North Beaver Street over the Codorus Creek will be closed for approximately one week beginning Oct. 20 to allow for repairs.

The work will involve repairs to the concrete deck surface and patching of some minor chipping to a bridge beam.

The work is expected to cost $31,900. Keystruct Construction is the contractor completing the repairs. Approximately 4,000 vehicles travel the bridge daily.

Upon completion of the work on the North Beaver Street bridge, Keystruct will begin repairs to the County-owned bridge that carries South Penn Street over the Codorus Creek in the city.

The work, expected to take approximately one week, includes repairs to the concrete bridge deck at an estimated cost of $25,250. Approximately 3,900 vehicles travel the bridge daily.

Both repair projects will be funded by the County’s liquid fuel funds, which are derived from a portion of the fuel tax.
