Tickets On Sale For Major Fundraising Dinner

Former Philadelphia Eagle Vince Papale, subject of the inspirational Disney film Invincible, will be the featured speaker at a major upcoming fundraising dinner organized by the York County Youth Development Center.

Tickets now are on sale for the 300-seat dinner on Sept. 26 at the Valencia Ballroom. All proceeds benefit the Center’s programs for at-risk youth.

“This is going to be an exciting evening of entertainment for a great cause,” said Rodney Wagner, director of the Youth Development Center. “We encourage anyone interested in attending to purchase a ticket as soon as possible.”

Papale still holds the record as the oldest rookie in the National Football League (kickers excluded). But it’s his inspirational story of how he went from being a teacher and part-time bartender to NFL player that inspired the film Invincible, starring Mark Wahlberg.

Besides Papale, attendees will also be treated to music from the local band Sound Reinforcement and Street Beats, a team from YDC that uses recycled materials and buckets to create rhythms and music.

State Rep. Kevin Schreiber will serve as emcee for the evening. Also speaking will be Robert Shank, who will discuss how YDC helped him change his life.

The event is geared for adults and is supported entirely by sponsorships and through ticket sales. A limited number of corporate sponsorships are still available.

Tickets are $50 per person and available by calling 840-7570. More information is available by going to http://yorkcountychildrenbenefit.weebly.com/index.html or by emailing benefitdinner@yorkcountypa.gov.
