Music & History Come Together July 14 Wallace-Cross Mill

The Friends of Wallace-Cross Mill will sponsor a program called “Music at the Mill” on Sunday, June 14 from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Guitarist, singer, songwriter Carroll Swam from the band Bluestone will be on hand to help with an informal jam session. The countryside around the old mill will ring with the sounds of voices, banjos, guitars, and more.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their instruments or just come to see the 19th century mill and listen to the music. There will even be some songs about mills. Docents will be available to give tours through the mill.

Cross Mill is believed to have been constructed in 1826 and was operated continuously until the 1980s. It is listed on both the Pennsylvania Inventory of Historic Places and National Register of Historic Places. In 1979, Harry E. Cross donated the property to the County of York. The mill is located on Cross Mill Road off of Church Road in the borough of Cross Roads.

Admission to the mill is free, however, donations are accepted. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Wallace-Cross Mill. For more information, please call (717) 840-7440.
