York County Commissioners Julie Wheeler, Doug Hoke and Ron Smith attended the rededication of the Service Men's Honor Roll memorial on Saturday at Ebenezer Church on Bull Run Road in the Long Level area.
The memorial is a large stone monument dedicated to the veterans of World War I and World War II, with six WW I veterans and 44 World War II veterans recognized. The monument was dedicated in November, 1947, according to the York Daily Record Thursday, Nov. 20, 1947, p. 13.
Saturday’s rededication is the culmination of a grass-roots effort from local citizens to restore this monument. Thanks to those who volunteered their services to make this happen and bring us together today for yet another local celebration of our veterans.
