The Register of Wills frequently receives requests for assistance in preparing and / or filing forms required for a particular matter. However, the Register of Wills Office is not permitted to offer opinions, directions, or instructions on any matter that may be construed as legal advice.

Will Information
A will is part of your legacy. This legal document will ensure that the assets you have accumulated during your lifetime are distributed in accordance with your wishes. You are never too young to begin. Statistics show that 50% of our citizens do not have a will. If a person dies without a will, assets of the decedent are distributed pursuant to the Rules of Intestate Succession.

Inheritance Tax Information
PA Inheritance Tax is due within nine months of date of death. Interest is charged beginning with the first day of delinquency, or nine months and one day from the date of death, to the date of payment. An application of extension for filing the return may be requested.
