Health & Human Services

York County provides a variety of services meant to help people of all ages. These services are provided primarily through York County Human Service Division departments and through the York County nursing home, Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

The goal of each of these programs is to provide client-focused services that maintain or improve the quality of life for clients and their families.

Departments within the Human Service division include:

  • Area Agency on Aging
  • Children, Youth & Families
  • Drug & Alcohol
  • HealthChoices Management Unit
  • Human Services Department
  • Mental Health/Mental Retardation
  • Veterans Affairs
  • Youth Development Center

Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is independent of the Human Service division, but is a key element in the county’s overall service structure.

We welcome you to visit these agencies and learn more about the resources available to you, your family and friends.

Please note: York County does not operate a health department. Inquiries regarding related matters can be directed to the York City Bureau of Health, which serves city residents, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health (for residents not residing in the city).
