Sheriff’s Sales important dates
Bankruptcy Processing (Real Estate Sales): If the York County Sheriff's Office receives notice that a defendant has filed bankruptcy, the Plaintiff's Attorney will be notified by e-mail. The Plaintiff's Attorney is responsible for notifying the Sheriff's Office if a relief order has been granted and/or how to proceed with the sale. Failure to provide the Sheriff's Office with this information will result in the sale being STAYED. If notification of a bankruptcy is received after 1:00pm on the day of the sale, the Sheriff's Office does not have adequate time to contact the Plaintiff's Attorney; therefore, the Sheriff's Office will inquire with the Plaintiff's Representative, at the sale, on how to proceed.
Affidavits of Service and Affidavit of Lien Holder (Real Estate Sales): In addition to filing these affidavits at the Prothonotary's Office, a copy must be forwarded to the Sheriff's Office, no later than one week prior to the sale. Failure to do so may result in continuance or stay of the sale.
