Apple Cider Fest Coming Sunday to Wallace-Cross Mill
- 10/9/2012
The Wallace-Cross Mill will be open from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 for its annual Cider Fest and public open house.
Guides from the Friends of Wallace-Cross Mill will offer tours throughout the afternoon. They will operate the mill machinery and interpret the mill’s history and importance to the local community.
The Cider Fest will feature outdoor demonstrations of a hand-cranked apple cider press next to the clear babbling waters of Rambo Run. As a fundraiser, taste the flavor of autumn – apple cider.
Wallace-Cross Mill is one of the few water-powered grist mills remaining in York County. The mill was believed to be built in 1826 and was operated continuously until the 1980s.
Wallace-Cross Mill is listed on the Pennsylvania Inventory of Historic Places and the National Registry of Historic Places. The mill is located on Cross Mill Road, off of Church Road, in East Hopewell Township.
Admission to the mill is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Wallace-Cross Mill. For more information, please call (717) 840-7440.
