Registration Opens For Veterans Day Program
- 8/27/2012
The York County Department of Veterans Affairs today opened registration for this year’s York County Veterans Day program, which will highlight those who served during the Vietnam era.
The popular ceremony each year features a buffet breakfast followed by a ceremony to honor veterans. This year’s program will be conducted on Sunday, Nov. 11 at Memorial Hall West on the grounds of the York Expo Center. Capacity is limited to 1,300 people.
The deadline for registration is Friday, Oct. 26. Vietnam-era veterans interested in receiving a certificate recognizing their service should contact the Department of Veterans Affairs at 771-9218 before Friday, Oct. 19.
The cost for those wishing to participate in both the breakfast and ceremony is $10 per person. There is no cost for people interested in attending only the ceremony.
“We’re proud each year on Veterans Day to recognize York County’s long and proud tradition of military service,” said Philip Palandro, director of the York County Department of Veterans Affairs. “We urge anyone interested in attending this great event to complete the registration form and return it as soon as possible.”
Walk-ins on the day of the program will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis should seats remain available, he said.
People can register by sending a registration form and check, payable to York County Veterans Affairs, to the Department Of Veterans Affairs at 100 W. Market St., York, Pa. 17401. The registration form is available for printing at www.ycva.org.
Interested parties can also register in person at the Department of Veterans Affairs’ office. It is located on the first floor of the York County Human Services Center, 100 W. Market St. in York City.
